New York, NY – Renaissance Macro Research (“RenMac”) is pleased to announce that April Scee has joined the firm in the newly created role of Head of Global Consumer Products Research.
April joins the firm as a Managing Director and RenMac’s third sector-based fundamental analyst. Her award-winning research has covered Consumer Discretionary and Consumer Staples stocks, and she brings over 15 years of experience spanning both the buy side and sell side.
In her previous position of Managing Director and Consumer Staples Analyst at Sterne Agee, Ms. Scee made an immediate impact, achieving top-five rankings within 6 months in internal sales polls and client votes. She also pioneered a weekly product that mined social media for consumer insights. Prior to Sterne Agee, April was Managing Director and Consumer Sector Head at BTIG. She began her career at Banc of America Securities, where she rose to Senior Analyst (Cosmetics, Household, and Personal Care Products) and was named “Best Up & Comer” by Institutional Investor. From 2008-2013, April worked on the buy side, evaluating Consumer long/short ideas for Weiss Multi-Strategy Associates and a related fund.
Jeff deGraaf, RenMac’s Chairman and Head Technical Analyst, stated, “April complements our buildout of fundamental research perfectly. As the sell-side business evolves, we continue to find that clients value insightful, differentiated, well-executed research. April’s global consumer expertise gives us both top-flight research and another critical macro overlay that enriches RenMac’s existing products.”
Steve Hash, RenMac’s President and Chief Operating Officer, commented, “We’re excited to have April heading up the Global Consumer space at RenMac. Our goal is to invest in great people who can lead this strategic evolution into fundamental research with macro significance. April’s skills and experience, including her success in building research functions, are a great match for us.”
In addition to Institutional Investor, Ms. Scee has won awards for stock-picking and earnings accuracy from Financial Times–StarMine and Forbes–Zacks. April holds an MBA with an emphasis in Finance from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University, and a BA in English from Duke University.
